Many Shelton family members have Nigerian or Cameroonian DNA, along with connections to other regions. We encourage family members to test their DNA using sites that analyze autosomal DNA, which is inherited from all family lines and represents ancestors on both sides of the family. Additionally, we recommend that family members obtain matrilineal and patrilineal DNA testing. DNA analysis has helped us discover an unknown daughter of Hardy and Mary Bearden Shelton, as well as connections within other branches of our family. We will continue to use DNA to reconnect our family.
