Board of Directors - Secretary
Interim Secretary
Regina Fletcher Russell
Regina has spent over 25 years building a successful career in management within the food industry. Throughout her career, Regina has honed her leadership skills and demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, making her a valued member of the company. However, her professional accomplishments are only one part of her story.
Her passion for family history began in the late 1970s, inspired by the television miniseries ROOTS, which ignited a lifelong interest in discovering and preserving her family’s heritage. This initial spark led to a deep and ongoing commitment to genealogy research. Regina dedicates her spare time to exploring her ancestry through popular platforms like Ancestry, 23andMe, and MyHeritage, uncovering important connections and stories that tie her family to a broader historical narrative.
In addition to her personal research, Regina finds joy in working with various craft media, allowing her to blend creativity with her love for history. Her involvement in both genealogy and crafts offers her a meaningful way to connect with her past while creating something tangible for the future.
As the mother of a descendant of Hardy and Mary Bearden Shelton, Regina is also connected to the family of Gertrude Cathey Williams, daughter of Lee and Fannie Shelton Cathey, which deepens her ties to our ancestral heritage. This connection underscores her dedication to honoring the legacy of her daughter’s ancestors and preserving their stories for future generations. Through her work in genealogy, Regina plays an essential role in continuing the rich history of the Shelton family, contributing to the ongoing efforts of the historical society, including stepping in following the untimely passing of our secretary - Reca Shabazz.
