Selena Tilley is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in historical research, archival management, public engagement, and exhibit development. Currently serving as the Director of the Rome Area History Center, Selena is a well-respected expert on the history of Rome, Georgia, recognized across Northwest Georgia for her dedication to historical preservation and public education. In her role, she oversees archival projects, manages exhibits, and organizes educational tours and events that bring the rich history of Rome to life for visitors and locals alike. Her expertise extends to her work as an archivist, where she carefully curates and maintains the historical records that shape the story of the region.

Selena’s expertise also greatly benefits the Shelton Heritage Society, supporting its mission to honor and preserve the Shelton family legacy. Her experience in historical preservation, public engagement, and educational event planning aligns with the Society’s goals, enriching its efforts to share the rich history of the Shelton family and their impact on the region. Through her stewardship, Selena helps ensure that the stories and contributions of families like the Sheltons are preserved and celebrated, connecting past generations to future ones.

In 2019, Selena was honored with the Historic High Country Award for Association Excellence for the “Haunted on Broad” tours, an event she coordinated through Georgia's Rome Office of Tourism. This award highlights her exceptional event planning skills and her passion for engaging the public in the unique and captivating aspects of Rome’s history. Her commitment to preservation and community engagement also led to her appointment to the Rome Landmarking Committee in 2021, where she continues to contribute her knowledge and insights to protect Rome’s historical landmarks and cultural heritage.

Beyond her role as Director, Selena has made significant contributions to the Rome Area History Museum. Her dedication to restoring and enhancing exhibits earned her an award from the museum in 2015. Her work as Exhibit Supervisor and Local Historian involved extensive research, exhibit development, and public presentations, allowing her to connect with the community and provide valuable insights into Rome’s historical narratives. As a dedicated historian, event coordinator, and community leader, Selena Tilley brings a unique blend of expertise and enthusiasm to the preservation and celebration of Rome’s rich cultural heritage, drawing visitors from all backgrounds to explore the stories of Rome and its people.
